End of an Era, Again

July 13th, 2009 (12:49 am)

I've canceled my World of Warcraft account again.

Between everything that has happened, I just don't really see any point in continuing to play.  Filthy is done, so there goes most of what was left of the guild.  My brother ran into a payment problem, which was not his fault at all, so his account has been frozen, and he doesn't plan to continue.

At least I can now put that $15 a month to a better use, like subscribing to XBOX Live, or putting it in the bank, or saving up to buy a new game, or trying Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, or anything other than World of Warcraft.

I just wish I could have had a better time with this game, but no.  I just don't really care anymore.

I find it interesting that out of all my whelplings on Squiby, Morganna is the most popular one.  Not entirely sure why, but eh.

So I've just recently tried the Mountain Dew Horde Red drink, and it's a new experience.  My understanding is that they took the game fuel from their Halo 3 promotion and reused it for this, but I could be completely wrong.  At any rate, the taste of cherry and citrus is noticeable, and is actually nice.  Granted, I don't actually drink Mountain Dew regularly.  While this isn't actually my opinion about Mountain Dew, it's a rather funny joke that my family quotes every once in a while.

I've also recently tried Pepsi-Cola Throwback.  The supposed gimmick is that it is made with natural sugar.  It's rather sweet.  Still, I don't drink Pepsi regularly, so I can't really identify any major differences.

Okay, that's enough inanity.

I seem to have poor luck with Squiby. The site keeps going down every so often. Although, now Blaze and Morganna have hatched into whelps.

Also, my indecisiveness has proven to be my undoing again.  I had a month free of XBOX Live Gold trial included with my copy of Viva Pinata, but when I looked at the back of it, I saw that it had expired on June 30, 2009.  Whee.

Although, if I end up canceling my WoW subscription again, I could instead buy a subscription to XBOX Live Gold for much less each month.

Hmm.

Hello.

I've been busy lately.  Watching videos, playing Flash games.

I've also been cycling through emotional states, which was draining.

I haven't felt like playing World of Warcraft lately.

Actually, I haven't felt like doing much of anything lately.

Eh.

Hey.

My brother found out why his game lagged.

It turns out his cooling fan wasn't working properly, and his graphics card burned.  Literally.  Apparently, there are scorch marks on the thing.

So my parents are going to have to buy him a new card.

Technology just hasn't been too good for us lately.  The DVD player in our living room is having massive problems.  It lags and skips on DVDs that aren't even scratched.  So we're kind of stuck watching VHS tapes.  Also, dad hasn't bothered to hook up a converter box to that television yet, so can't watch anything normally.

I'm just so bored and depressed.  I don't know what to do.  I don't particularly feel like dong anything.

Oh, and my brother has roped me into making a new LEGO world.  But my guess is that he'll only play with it once, and then never touch it again until he decides to destroy it.

Perhaps I should just try to fix my sleep cycle.  Maybe regular sleep will make me feel a bit better.

Lately, I've been playing a fun series of platforming games known as Shift.  It's a rather innovative game, where the main gimmick is that you can shift along the x-axis, rotating the playing field and shifting what is solid.  It's extremely fun once you quickly figure out how it works.  The first game is straightfoward, but the later games in the series become more and more complex.  The culmination in Shift 4 ends with a funny parody song with vocals by Egoraptor.  I highly recommend this series of games to anybody who loves platforming games and anybody who loves puzzles.  Oh, and the later games have medals to earn.

Start here with Shift.

I had planned to go out for a while today, but plans change.  Well, perhaps tomorrow.

In the mean time, I managed to get my PC copy of GTA IV exchanged for an Ecks Bawks copy.  Yay.  And I still can't drive in GTA games without running people over.  At least my mom and bro got laughs out of my wacky attempts to get from point A to point B.

Haven't been playing much WoW lately.  I just don't feel like it.  I hope I'm not completely losing my interest again.

Well, in true Midsummer Fire Festival spirit, my brother and I actually made toasted smorcs on a firepit out in the back yard.  They were tasty.

And, as much as I hate to do this, would you kindly list the 4Chan memes you know?  The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are "i herd u liek mudkipz," "LONGCAT IS LONG," and Pedo Bear.

So, I got my braces removed this morning, which is a plus.  Although, I now have to wear a retainer almost all the time for about 3 months.  But at least they gave me some candy.  There's a Twix and some caramel and a Tootsie roll and lots of bubble gum.  So yay for that.

Also, this may push back any recording I had planned, as my speech has to adjust to having the retainer in.  I'm having a bit of difficulty with "ch" sounds and some other stuff, but eventually it will sort itself out.  Plus my acne seems to keep getting clearer so yay for that too.

And I now have a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV.  Hopefully it will run on my computer, despite having sub-optimal hardware.  But hey, Fallout 3 runs fine even though I don't have optimal hardware for that.  So I'm pretty much rolling the dice and hoping for good luck.  Although I seem to do that whenever I purchase a "Games for Windows" game.

Well, I'm scheduled to have my braces removed tomorrow.  And to be honest, it's about time.  I've had them on for four or five years now, so I'm excited that they're finally coming off.  I've got a quarter pound bag of salt taffy here that I'll be eating tomorrow.

I've also got these raspberry sour candies that are shaped like mushrooms and come in a mushroom container.  It's tied into the New Super Mario Brothers, and it's also an official Nintendo product.  It's kind of cool.

Well, that's enough for now.
